Dear guests and friends of Bolongo Bay,

In the wake of the global outbreak of COVID-19, Bolongo Bay has begun to take a number of proactive measures to ensure the health, well-being and safety of our guests and employees. The Family and Management Team have been closely monitoring developments and are working closely with our Government, Health and Tourism officials. The medical aspects of this are in the hands of Health Care Professionals, while our main concern is to plan, communicate and implement a safe course of action.

We have begun informing future guests arriving through April 12 of the need to postpone trips to Bolongo Bay.

For those already here, we are advising them to book earlier flights home while availability and prices are still so favorable. Every airline and Tour Operator has suspended their cancellation charges and change fees. We want you to decide when to return home, while the decision is still yours to make.

For those choosing to stay on island until your original departure date, you can book a room at almost every hotel and choose to stay at another property. Bolongo Bay will of course refund the balance of the cost for your stay here.

“As in the case of an approaching hurricane, you’ve got to take potentially disruptive action when the sun is shining and the breeze is mild.”

There are no good answers here. Like all safety precautions, implementation can also lead to the appearance of over-reaction. As in the case of an approaching hurricane, you’ve got to take potentially disruptive action when the sun is shining and the breeze is mild.

We have decided that, all things considered, with uncertainty of sustained airlift, the ability to care for you, and the potential disruption of the food supply chain, the appearance of overreaction is worth it.

Our hope is with these actions, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort becomes more a part of the solution, than part of the problem.

These are unprecedented times, and we’re facing it with absolute honesty, rationality and a deep sense of responsibility. We are striving to more effectively assist our healthcare system in helping those with the most need, and at the same time minimize risk for our guests and staff.

You all have our sincerest regrets for the disruptions to your vacation, and our best wishes for this profound challenge that we are all facing.

Thank you.

Richard Doumeng and the entire Bolongo family.
